国土

面積780,576平方キロメートル（日本の約2倍）のなかに、人口83,614,362人（2020年、トルコ国家統計庁）が暮らす共和制国家。
首都はアンカラで、主な民族はトルコ人。ほか、南東部を中心にクルド人、それ以外の地域にアルメニア人、ギリシア人、ユダヤ人等。
公用語はトルコ語。

宗教

イスラム教（スンニ派、アレヴィー派）が大部分を占める。
その他ギリシャ正教徒、アルメニア正教徒、ユダヤ教徒等。

政治・経済

共和制。2018年6月のエルドアン大統領が得票率52.59％で勝利した選挙をもって議院内閣制から大統領制となった。
一人当たりのGDPは9,407ドル(2021年、IMF)。国民の平均年齢が若く豊富な労働力が自動車産業や繊維産業等に従事する。通貨安・インフレ・エネルギーの海外依存等が課題ではあるが、トルコ経済は、欧州諸国と比較しても良好な財政水準である。
